About the temple

A WARM WELCOME TO VIEWERS OF THIS ARTICLE

In Tamil Nadu , Sirkazhi is a small town in the Nagai District, at a distance of 20 kms from  Mayiladuturai as well as Chidambaram. This is the birth place of the great Gnanasambandhar,  one of the four great Nayanmars of south India.

Near Sirkali, there is a hamlet by name  Pulichakadu.  In scriptures, it is known as Nithyavanam. This village is 2 k.m. away from Sirkali enroute  Arpakkam and Madhanam.

In this village, there is one Ayyanar temple near a pond.  This Ayyanar , with Poorna and Pushkalamba and with one soolayudham all engraved in a single  stone piece is installed. There is another stone piece , where two rishi ( or siddhar ) like idol is engraved. There was an idol of Lord Ganesa in the premises and this idol is missing since 6  months. This we came to know only two days back, when we visited the place to do Abhishekam and Pooja. We were very much upset  and shocked  over this. This Ayyanar  is our Kula Deivam  for the past many generations. This temple is without any proper roof and is not having any temple-like structure and is exposed to the open sky.  Normally, we used to visit this  temple once in a year or so and do Abhishekam and Pooja. I understand that there are a few families , who are interested in this deity as kuladeivam or otherwise  and they visit here once in a bluemoon to do poojas , like us.. Please have a look at the temple photo album by clicking this link.

We  presume  and feel that this Ayyanar deity ( with all its divine lakshana and thejas ) is highly potential   and spiritually powerful. We also believe that this Ayyanar is likely to have a rich and traditional background and sthala puranam. As we are very curious and keen to know more about this Ayyanar,  I request you, readers,  to kindly  enlighten us/ share with us  any information or details about this temple/deity, if any available with you. Now that a few  people interested in this deity/temple , have started feeling the necessity  and the urgent need for a temple structure  for our beloved kuladeivam  Now, pompted by the inherent urge ,we have initiated a move  to go ahead with a proposal for construction of a temple structure for the deity, with our personal and initial contributions and we anticipate   liberal donations from Bhakthas also, to complete the project.

In the meantime,  we are keen to develop a detailed network  of families/people interested in this Ayyanar deity/temple  and we hope that would help us in the process of creating  a larger coverage of families/members and  render us with more manpower and  resources for funds  for the  coming up of the temple as well as Kumbabhishekam and future maintenance of the temple also. We sincerely hope that in course of time, with the support of many a devotees, our dream will come true in the form  of a solid temple structure.

Therefore it is hereby requested that  those interested and want to involve and participate  in the development activities of this temple, may furnish their contact details such as Names, address, telephone number and email ids etc to the undersigned. You may please furnish any facts/information/details about this deity/temple, if any, known to you.

Yours
In the noble and spiritual cause
